Who doesn’t love free money/stocks! For years now almost any and all investment apps have been offering a “free stock” with signup.

Can you really get free stocks?

Yes, most of these are actually no strings attached free stock anywhere from $5-$1500 once you deposit some money into one of these investment apps.

These offers are constantly changing so today I will be going through the best offers I have found for 2023 to get some free stocks and kick start your investments for the year.

There are several investment apps that give you a free stock when you open an account and meet certain requirements. Here are my favorites thus far for 2023!

1. Robinhood

Most have probably heard of Robinhood, whether what you heard was good or bad the fact is you can still snag a free stock when signing up for the first time.  Robinhood allows you to buy and sell stocks, ETFs, and options for free.

Sign Up Offer:

Free stock worth between $5 and $200.

What you need to do:

Sign up for Robinhood, get approved, and link your bank account in order to be credited.

Referral Bonus:

You can actually get yourself multiple free stocks if you refer your friends and family. Once they follow the same sign-up steps you did, both the friend that signed up, and yourself will receive a free stock valued between $5-$200.

From Robinhood’s terms

2. M1 Finance

M1 Finance is a bit different than the rest of investment apps on the list. M1 lets you create a personalized portfolio of stocks and ETFs using their “Pie” investment strategy. (See below),

M1 Finance’ sign up offer has a bit higher barrier to entry. You actually need to deposit a significant amount of money to actually receive a bonus.

M1 has a tiered bonus system as follows:

  • A deposit of $10,000-$29,999 earns $75
  • $30,000-$49,999 earns $150
  • $50,000-$99,999 earns $250
  • $100,000+ earns $500

What you need to do:

  1. Open a new M1 Invest account.
  2. Within 14 days, make cumulative initial deposits totaling at least $10,000.

Referral Bonus:

Customers can earn $10 by inviting their friends and family to join M1.

For each person who joins and funds an account from your referral link, you will receive $10. The individual who funds their new account will also receive $10.

3. WeBull

WeBull is similar to Robinhood as it offers commission-free trading on stocks, ETFs, options, and more.

WeBull Promo

What you need to do:

To get the first 2 free stocks, you just need to sign up for a WeBull account, and link your bank account.

To get the 10 additional stocks, you will need to deposit $100 into your WeBull account.

Referral Bonus:

There are currently no referral bonus offers running, but keep your eye out because there have been many I the past that will award you with multiple free stocks when someone signs up with your referral link.

3. Public

Public is a popular active investing app that boasts a people-first focus and commission-free stock market trading.

This app offers a range of financial services, including investing, borrowing, and saving.

SoFi Sign Up Bonuses

Referral Bonus:

Like many of the apps, when you refer a friend, you will receive the same offer you got when you signed up.

So, for SoFi, you will get another go at the claw machine and receive a stock worth $5 – $1,000

It’s worth noting that these offers are subject to change and may not be available in all areas. I recommend checking the app’s website or contacting the company directly to confirm the details of their current promotion.

Our Thoughts

Obviously free money is great, and as you can see there are several investment apps that offer free stocks to users who open an account and meet certain requirements.

These apps that we went over, including Robinhood, M1 Finance, WeBull, Public, and SoFi, offer a range of investment options and educational resources, and make it easy for anyone to start investing, regardless of their level of experience or financial resources.

In addition to these apps, we have also developed a list of our favorite investment apps for beginners, that will give you a more in-depth description as well as pros and cons for some of these platforms.

While the free stock offers and referral bonuses may change over time, these apps are a great way to kickstart your investments and potentially earn some extra money in the process.

It’s important to carefully consider the fees, investment options, and other terms and conditions of each app before deciding which one is right for you.
